Currently Available GHG Protocol Training Courses

The GHG Protocol has developed five training courses based on its standards. These courses are scheduled regularly and can be customized for a variety of different audiences. Questions and inquiries on training offerings should be emailed to Stacy Kotorac at SKotorac@wri.org.

Course Overview

Corporate Standard

This course provides participants with a detailed understanding of requirements and key guidance in the Corporate Standard, the most widely used standard in corporate GHG management and reporting Individuals that complete the course will have the ability to complete a corporate GHG inventory in conformance with the Standard. The interactive course will format includes case studies, quizzes, and training exercises.

Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting

This course provides companies with a detailed understanding of requirements and key guidance in the Scope 3 standard, including a review of corporate accounting. Individuals that complete the course will have the ability to complete a corporate value chain GHG inventory in conformance with the Standard. The interactive course will format includes case studies, quizzes, and training exercises.

Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting

This course provides companies with a detailed understanding of requirements and key guidance in the Product Life-Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard. Individuals that complete this course will have the ability to complete a product inventory in conformance Standard. The interactive course format includes case studies, quizzes, and training exercises.

Program Design Course

Learn how to establish country- or regional-level corporate GHG reporting programs. The course includes many case studies and examples from existing GHG programs and covers how to:

  • Define program objectives
  • Seek funding
  • Engage stakeholders
  • Recruit member companies
  • Develop specifications and tools for your country
  • Explore verification options
  • Collect and publish company inventories

Who: Organizations interested in establishing new GHG accounting and reporting or corporate measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) programs, which may include:
  • Government agencies
  • Policymakers
  • Business or industry associations
  • Civil society organizations/NGOs
  • Leading universities
  • Other institutions

Training of Trainers Course

Learn how to deliver courses for companies on corporate GHG emissions accounting, quantification, and reporting according to the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, the most wide used international accounting standard for businesses to measure and manage their emissions.

Who: Professionals who have relevant expertise or experience in at least one of the following:

  • Corporate, project, or product-level GHG inventories
  • Environment, energy, corporate sustainability or a related field
  • ISO or similar standards
  • Delivering trainings, preferably in one of the fields above
