Mexico GHG Program
The Mexico GHG Program, through DNV, is developing a verification handbook, which is pursuing the establishment of verification guidelines to promote the development of high-quality GHG inventories. This document is under revision by the Program Partners.
An information session on the Mexico GHG Program was held in May 2007 at the Mining Industrial Chamber (Cámara Minera de México) to invite mining companies to join the program.
Philippine GHG Program
Klima Climate Change Center of the Manila Observatory, the secretariat for the Philippine Accounting and Reporting Program (PhilGARP), hosted a half-day learning session for the training corps that was created in November 2006. Holcim-Philippines and Shell presented their experience with the GHG Protocol and inventory development, and the training corps reviewed the Corporate Standard concepts. Klima has also invited prominent stakeholders in addition to all of the program partner organizations to be members of a Program Advisory Board and a Technical Working Group (TWG), which will provide inputs into the design specifications of PhilGARP.
Philippine Business for the Environment (PBE) held an executive briefing session for its business members on PhilGARP and corporate GHG accounting and reporting at the end of March. PBE has also implemented a recruitment plan to invite businesses to participate in PhilGARP; more than 15 companies have committed to date.
The first training workshop for the business pilot group was held May 3-4 in Manila, in conjunction with a meeting of the TWG. The workshop and meeting were sponsored by USAID and the PhilGARP partner organizations. Corporate GHG inventories from the business pilot group are expected to be completed in September.
