Pankaj Bhatia

Pankaj Bhatia is the director of the GHG Protocol Initiative project within WRI’s Climate, Energy, and Pollution Program (CEP). He is a leading expert on GHG Protocol Standards and tools particularly in the area of corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting. Mr. Bhatia’s work responsibilities include: development of guidance and methodologies on corporate inventory accounting standards; design and implementation of GHG Protocol based capacity building programs in key developing countries; technical assistance and advisory support in the design of emissions registries in the U.S. and internationally; and development of GHG Protocol domestic and international project strategy.From 1998 to 2000, he was vice president of Tata Energy & Resources Institute, a not-for-profit research organization based in Arlington, Virginia and affiliated to The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, India. From 1993 to 1998 he served TERI, New Delhi on various projects related to implementation of the Montreal Protocol in India and development of environment policy for technology transfer and capacity building in Indian industry. He holds Masters in process engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Bachelors in chemical engineering from the Institute of Technology, Banares Hindu University, Varanasi, India.
   
Derik Broekhoff

Derik Broekhoff

Derik Broekhoff is a senior member of the GHG Protocol team at the World Resources Institute, and manages WRI work on carbon offset project accounting, emissions trading, and carbon market policy development. He is a primary author of the GHG Protocol for Project Accounting and currently leads a multi-stakeholder workgroup developing accounting guidelines for projects in the electricity sector. Prior to joining WRI he worked for ten years in the fields of energy and climate change consulting, where he developed financial and economic analytical tools for GHG market forecasting, risk management, project evaluation, and business strategy development for a wide range of private and public sector clients. Mr. Broekhoff has a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University and a Masters degree in Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley.
   
Florence Daviet

Florence Daviet

Florence Daviet is an Associate with the GHG Protocol Initiative Team. Ms. Daviet’s work involves the development of the LULUCF Sector Specific Guidance in conjunction with Suzie Greenhalgh. In addition, she is responsible for the development, review, maintenance, and customization of the GHG Protocol calculation tools - including the design of a revised stationary combustion tool - writing sections of the GHG Protocol Project Accounting Standard, and outreach and adoption of the GHG Protocol by developed and developing countries. Ms Daviet has been working closely with the Regional Greenhouse Gas Registry (RGGR) in the Northeast and is also conducting workshops encouraging the development of linkages between different registries currently evolving in the United States, e.g., CCAR, RGGR, and Climate Leaders. Ms. Daviet holds a Masters in International Environmental Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Bachelors in English Literature and Mathematics from Mount Holyoke College.
   
Taryn Fransen

Taryn Fransen

Taryn Fransen is a Senior Associate with the GHG Protocol Initiative at the World Resources Institute, where she oversees the design and implementation of GHG management programs in developing countries. Her expertise includes corporate- and project-level GHG accounting and reporting, GHG program design, corporate climate change strategy, and environmental markets. Prior to joining WRI, Ms. Fransen was Associate Program Officer at the United Nations Foundation, where she co-managed a portfolio of projects to engage institutional investors on climate change issues and attract financing for sustainable energy development. She has also served as a consultant on markets for ecosystem services for the World Wildlife Fund, and as Business Solutions Fellow at the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. Ms. Fransen holds an M.S. and B.S. in Earth Systems from Stanford University. She has worked internationally in Mexico, Brazil, the Philippines, South Korea, India, Guatemala, and Costa Rica and is fluent in English and Spanish.
   
Antonia Gawel

Antonia Gawel

Antonia Gawel has been with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development since summer of 2006 in the Energy and Climate Team and the Electricity Utilities Sector Project. She works on the GHG Protocol’s developing country programs in China, Brazil, and the Philippines. She holds a Masters in Environmental Planning, Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto with a major in Economics and a minor in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. Previously, she worked at SustainAbility in London and Pollution Probe in Toronto on various issues related to corporate sustainability.
   
Angel Hsu

Angel Hsu

Angel Hsu is a Research Analyst who supports the GHG Protocol Initiative’s developing country initiatives in the Philippines, China, Brazil, Mexico, and India. She also manages the GHG Protocol website, quarterly newsletter, and outreach. Her expertise includes corporate GHG accounting and reporting and GHG program design. Prior to joining WRI, she completed a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy at the University of Cambridge in England and a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Political Science from Wake Forest University. She has also conducted research in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, and Taiwan. She speaks Mandarin Chinese.
   
David Rich

David Rich

David Rich is a Research Analyst with the GHG Protocol team. His focus is on the development of greenhouse gas emissions registries, including greenhouse gas accounting and reporting standards and emissions quantification methodologies. His prior experience includes providing technical support during the development of the Climate Registry and developing state and regional greenhouse gas emissions inventories at the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM). He holds a Masters degree in Energy and Environmental Analysis from Boston University and a Bachelors degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
   
Stephen Russell

Stephen Russell

Stephen Russell is a Research Analyst who specializes in the development and update of the GHG Protocol calculation tools. Additionally, his expertise includes statistical modeling and software programming. Prior to joining WRI, Stephen conducted environmental research as a Post-doctoral Fellow with the Max-Planck Research Society in Germany. He holds a Ph.D. and B.S. in Environmental Biology from the Universities of St. Andrews and York (U.K.), respectively.
   
Neelam Singh

Neelam Singh

Neelam Singh is an Associate on WRI’s GHG Protocol team who supports the project’s developing countries program, focusing on India. Prior to joining WRI, Neelam worked as an environmental scientist with Potomac-Hudson Engineering (PHE), a private environmental and information technology consulting firm. Neelam also spent over four years as a research associate with the New Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment’s (CSE) climate change campaign and has worked as a short-term consultant with the World Bank.Neelam has an undergraduate degree in Physics from Delhi University and a Master’s degree in International Development Studies with a specialization in Environment Studies from Ohio University.
