Based on its expertise and network of partnerships, the GHG Protocol will be undertaking three new initiatives to continue building corporate GHG accounting and reporting capacity in developing countries.
Training of Trainers Course: Corporate Standard
The GHG Protocol will create a new initiative to train qualified instructors to further deliver courses on corporate GHG accounting, reporting and inventory development.
What will GHG Protocol offer?
A multi-day course for trainers focusing on:
• The Corporate Standard
• Effective training skills
and including:
• Case studies and practical examples
• Written and simulated exercises
• A trainer’s manual
Who can benefit from this?
Institutions, such as those below, that can nominate qualified trainers:
• Training organizations
• Universities
• Other educational institutions
Professionals who are affiliated with such institutions and have relevant expertise and training experience, such as in environmental and health safety, corporate sustainability, ISO standards, etc.
Trainer Certificate Program: Corporate Standard
The GHG Protocol developed a rigorous certificate program for trainers of the Corporate Standard to ensure they have the expertise necessary to conduct subsequent training workshops that maintain high standards.
What will GHG Protocol offer?
A recognized certificate for trainers complementary to the Training of Trainers Course and based on:
• A written exam
• Scored simulation exercises

Program Design Course: GHG Accounting and Reporting
In order to catalyze the establishment of new GHG accounting and reporting or corporate MRV programs in developing countries, the GHG Protocol will train organizations interested in designing and developing such programs.

A course on GHG accounting and reporting program design focusing on:
• GHG program objectives
• Elements of program structure
• Resources available
• Program implementation
• Case studies from existing programs
Who can benefit from this?
Organizations interested in establishing new GHG accounting and reporting or corporate MRV programs, which many include:

• Government agencies
• Industry associations
• Civil society organizations
