General tool revisions WRI initiated changes to its suite of mobile combustion tools. These changes are ultimately aimed at increasing usability and at ensuring the calculation methodologies are consistent with international best-practices. Most notably, WRI has completely reformatted the Mobile Combustion tool to increase its functionality and ease-of-use. Iron and Steel tool: The Iron and Steel tool has been road-tested by various iron and steel companies worldwide. Their feedback is currently being incorporated into the tool, and several stakeholder meetings with industry experts are being planned to resolve outstanding issues, such as how emissions sources that are not covered by IPCC guidance can be accounted for. The Climate Registry has finalized its General Reporting Protocol, which provides a consistent framework for companies and organizations across North America to measure and publicly report their Greenhouse Gas emissions. Since the GHG Protocol first announced plans in February to upgrade the suite of 16 calculation tools available free of charge to the public, significant research has been conducted to determine how best to update the tools with the most recent information and how to make the format of the tools more user friendly.
