- GHG Protocol Tools - 2nd Edition: WRI is nearing the completion of its revisions to the GHG calculation tools. These revisions have been guided by the latest IPCC technical guidance, published in 2006. Tools in Progress: Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Tool: A draft of the Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution tool will be going out for review at the beginning of November. WRI has been working with the California Climate Action Registry to develop the tool. Please contact Florence Daviet at fdaviet@wri.org, if you are interested in reviewing the tool. New Documents - Publication Developments
Typology [fdaviet@wri.org] The project typology will provide project developers with project-specific information on a range of accounting issues (e.g., possible baseline candidates, secondary effects, important data sources, monitoring techniques). The first five chapters of this tool have been reviewed by the GHG Protocol team. Angela Zahniser, who is on rotation at WRI through the Presidential Management Fellow Program, will help work on the sixth chapter, which pertains to carbon sequestration projects. Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Tool [fdaviet@wri.org] WRI and the California Climate Action Registry are working together to complete a Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Tool, which will cover the specific emissions from this sector. This tool is the result of both industry association and direct industry interest, and has been bolstered by government support as well. A discussion paper will be presented to stakeholders for discussion in January. Updated Tools • The Mexico Pulp and Paper Tool is now available for download under ‘Developing Countries: Customized Tools’ on www.ghgprotocol.org. Guidance documents are available in both English and Spanish. • The Aluminum Tool has been revised to incorporate changes and comments from EPA Climate Leaders.
